SUP Lake Austin - SUP Jam

SUP Jam took place on Lady Bird Lake, adjacent to Lake Austin on May 8th, 2010. Stand Up Paddle Austin!

This was the first SUP Jam event. Over 40 stand up paddlers competed in the first race, a 3-mile route circling Lady Bird Lake, starting from Festival Beach, to downtown Austin and back to Festival Beach. SUP ATX Rep Buck Ashcraft won the SUP Jam race, surprising other paddlers in the race, the onlookers and especially himself. Buck had trained solo for the SUP Jam race, so he was unaware how he would do when paddling against others. He took to an early sizeable lead and never let up, winning by a significant margin. The Free SUP Clinics are available on Lady Bird Lake (Formerly Town Lake), Lake Austin and Lake Travis on weekends, weekdays and even after work sessions.
